The J

A J-White Lady Custom Cutaway.

Fancy Heel Carving

The heel carving from this guitar was a little diffferent than stock White Lady heels with a bit more detailing and an intaglio style bordering.

One of the most requested guitars, especially with my Japanese clients, is the J model. It is the best straight fingerpicking guitar I make. It is super well balanced from top to bottom with a nice crisp, quick responsiveness. It also looks really sexy. I patterned it after the Gibson J-185, but make it less deep and brace it with scalloped bracing, creating a sound far superior to the original source.

The unconventional looking one to the left is a custom White Lady with a complex series of curly maple and ebony wedges for the fingerboard and headstock overlay, into which is inlaid a rendering of Columbus discovering the West Indies (and an eagle on the headstock). I only did this pattern once and plan to keep it that way!
