| The FX | |
An FX-White Lady with stock inlays and trims. The slothead headstock is optional. Of all of the guitars I make, my favorite for both flatpicking AND fingerpicking is the FX. It has all of the punch and power I could ask for, very similar to a great D style guitar, but much more articulate and crisp, the sound I like for lighter fingerpicking. |
The FX is a Greven original, my 12 fret version of the ever popular F guitar. The FX is a super all around fingerpicking/flatpicking guitar with outstanding power and clarity. More Dreadnaught like in sound but with much better bass to treble balance, the FX has a bit more bass than the F-14 fret sister guitar. My own personal guitar is a lacewood FX which I use for ragtime and bluegrass! Both the 14 fret F and the 12 fret FX are available with either a rounded or sharp cutaway. The slot headstock design is an additional option, but one I do not recommend as it structurally weakens the headstock. My caution comes from years of repair work which included many broken slothead headstocks on vintage Martins.
